What is new in LinkBidScript version-1.2

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Now that wait is over and new version of LinkBidScript is released lets take a closer look on advantages that new version is has to offer…

On top of my list is definitely improved listing details page. Now submitting webmasters have a benefit of creating mini website instead of standard cold statistics page.

Details page will have meta title, meta description, and meta keywords that belong to the listed website which are entered during submission process.

Url of listing details page will have descriptive web address generated from the listing title. This was changed from the domain name used by previous version.

Extended description lets you give more information about listed website and benefits of visiting it.

Three deep links can lead to internal pages of the website with individual keyword anchored titles.

Social bookmarking buttons allow easy easy submissions to popular bookmarking networks.

New “Latest listings” page will give newly listed sites better chance to be found by search engine spiders of owners chose not to pay for higher positioning.

There are also some new useful features to benefit LinkBidScript directory owners.

Now administrator is able to add new listing directly from the admin panel. Domain and IP banning feature can help to get rid of annoying spammy submissions. almost all directory settings can now be done in the admin panel. It includes:
- minimum bid and minimum upgrade
- maximum length allowed for titles, descriptions and other listing fields
- meta titles, meta descriptions, and meta keywords for all pages
- database back up

There are more new features that you will find after installing the script. Few of them still need fine tunning and don’t find some of them particularly useful but no matter what - script has improved and the best part - it’s still FREE!

About LinkBidScript

I found LinkBidScript by accident when clicked on someone’s signature link on one of webmasters forums. Main reason why I decided to give it a try was that this nice little script was offered for free download. Having used many other premium directory scripts in the past I wanted to see if LinkBidScript worth investing time in exploring it any deeper.
My first impression after installing the script was positive. Installation went smoothly and did not have any issues with PHP or MySQL versions nor with .htaccess file.
The standard set of features was identical to the paid script from other developer. The admin interface and template structure is a little out of whack but can be easily improved with a little effort.
Most important part is that new installation was working straight out of the box: accepting new submissions, processing payments, sending confirmation emails, and everything else it was supposed to do.
Another useful feature I find that LinkBidScript allows to use categories and alphabetical listings structures simultaneously. That means webmasters who submit their sites to LinkBidScript powered directory will have a benefit of three direct links: one from category page, one from alphabetical page, and one more from link details page.
In short words - if you are thinking about starting a bidding web directory LinkBidScript is definitely worth a shot.
